She emphasised that stubble burning adversely affected air quality, soil fertility and public health, making it essential for farmers to cooperate with the administration in tackling this environmental challenge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dr Navjot Sharma took stock of the arrangements for managing paddy residue through in-situ methods, which involve incorporating straw into the soil using suitable agricultural machinery, and ex-situ methods, under which paddy straw is collected and utilised for other productive purposes. She urged farmers to make optimum use of available agricultural machinery and seek guidance from the Agriculture Department regarding suitable alternatives to stubble burning.
