-No unauthorised storage detected during inspections, strict vigil to continue
Kapurthala, October 19: Joint teams of the civil and police administration, led by SDM Maj. Dr Irwin Kaur and DSP Dr Sheetal Singh, on Monday inspected firecracker godowns to ensure strict compliance with the directions issued by the Punjab Government.
SDM Kaur said that no instance of unauthorised firecracker storage was detected during the inspections. The godown inspected on Bhilla Road was found to have a valid licence, and the stock was in accordance with the prescribed norms.

The SDM said that, as per the Punjab Government’s directions, the manufacture, stocking, distribution, sale and use of joint firecrackers, including firecracker garlands (laries), were prohibited across the state. She clarified that only permitted green crackers would be allowed for sale and use, subject to the prescribed guidelines. Such crackers must not contain barium salts or compounds of antimony, lithium, mercury, arsenic, lead or strontium chromate. She further stated that e-commerce platforms, including Amazon and Flipkart, as well as other online portals, had been prohibited from accepting online orders for firecrackers or facilitating their online sale in Punjab.

DSP Dr Sheetal Singh said that only licensed traders would be permitted to sell approved green crackers at designated locations in the district. No person without a valid licence would be allowed to sell firecrackers, and strict action would be taken against violators. He also cautioned licensed traders against storing, displaying or selling firecrackers that exceeded the prescribed decibel limits.
