Phagwara, October 21: Member Parliament Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal on Wednesday inspected the ongoing construction of cement concrete (CC) roads in Ward 9 of Phagwara, being executed at a cost of Rs 28 lakh, and reviewed the progress of the development work.

During the inspection, accompanied by Mayor Rampal Uppal, Chabbewal said that the tender for a sewerage project worth Rs 91 lakh would be allotted within the next few days, following which the work would commence soon. He said that the road construction and proposed sewerage project would provide much-needed relief to residents and help improve the civic infrastructure in the area. He pointed out that these development works had remained pending for a long time, despite being among the major demands of local residents since the establishment of the Municipal Corporation. He said that the state government was committed to resolving such long-standing issues and ensuring that people received better civic amenities.

Dr Chabbewal said that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, was giving special attention to the development of urban areas and strengthening basic infrastructure. He added that road construction, sewerage facilities and other essential civic works were being undertaken in different parts of Phagwara to improve the quality of life of residents.
Emphasising that development should reach every locality, Dr Chabbewal said that the government was working to ensure that no area was left behind. He added that the pace of development across Phagwara reflected the government’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people and addressing their day-to-day civic concerns.

He further said that the completion of these projects would help resolve local infrastructure-related problems and provide residents with improved facilities. The focus, he added, remained on accelerating development works and ensuring that projects were completed efficiently for the benefit of the public.
