Sultanpur Lodhi, October 17: Joint teams of the civil and police administration on Saturday conducted inspections in various markets of Sultanpur Lodhi to check the illegal storage of firecrackers and ensure strict compliance with the directions issued by the Punjab Government.

SDM Sultanpur Lodhi Jasjit Singh said that special teams had been constituted to maintain strict vigil and prevent the illegal storage and sale of firecrackers. During Saturday’s inspections, no instance of illegal firecracker storage was detected, he added.

The SDM said that, in accordance with the state government’s directions, the manufacture, stocking, distribution, sale and use of joint firecrackers, including firecracker garlands (laries), were prohibited across Punjab. He clarified that only permitted green crackers, which do not contain barium salts or compounds of antimony, lithium, mercury, arsenic, lead or strontium chromate, would be allowed for sale and use, subject to the prescribed guidelines. He further said that e-commerce platforms, including Amazon and Flipkart, along with other online portals, had been prohibited from accepting online orders for firecrackers or conducting their online sale within the state.

Singh also added that only licensed traders would be permitted to sell approved green crackers at designated locations in the district. No person without a valid licence would be allowed to sell firecrackers. He also warned that licensees would not be permitted to store, display or sell firecrackers exceeding the prescribed decibel limits.

The SDM said that the administration would continue its monitoring and enforcement efforts to ensure strict adherence to the government’s directions and prevent violations.
